“Sarah’s funny. But not as funny as she thinks she is.”
Sarah Burton is a producer, writer, and a performer at the Upright Citizens Brigade Theater. Currently, Sarah produces and hosts the Mean Book Club podcast. If you’re a gamer, you’ve seen her writing on State Farm’s Gamerhood (Amazon) or HP’s huge Twitch livestream even Level Reforge. If you like audio stories, you can also see her work writing sultry stories for Pocket FM. She formerly produced new development series for Condé Nast and corresponded (is that the word?) for ICYMI by HuffPost, a bi-weekly show about the intersection of politics and pop culture you can catch on your Apple TV. You can watch a bulk of her producing, directing, and on-camera work on BuzzFeed’s Youtube channel — teaching her dog to play basketball and walking through New York in a giant bubble. Sarah has spent 100+ hours reading WebMD.
Sarah studied political science and journalism and Pennsylvania State University, where she later graduated with her master's in media studies. Her thesis was titled More Than Entertainment: The Role of Satirical News in Deliberation, Dissent, and Democracy. After her thesis defense, she realized she didn't want to keep studying comedy; she wanted to fucking do it. Sarah quickly rose through the ranks of UCB and hasn't looked back since.
“But please, hire her.”
